He truly loved making others laugh. He was a home body and a wonderful family man. He had a knowledge of so many things. He loved flowers and gardening and was a giver of beautiful gifts. He had a heart of gold. He was a jack of all trades and was an artist in every sense of the word. He could draw, paint, weld, build, create, and truly do anything he set his mind to. He loved to fish and spend time with his children and grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Amy Henson; mother, Bernice Henson; brothers, Johnny, Jeff, and Jay Henson; children, Michelle Henson, Joe Henson, Jesse Henson, Josie Henson, and Katie Speiser; grandchildren, Christian, Rhayne, Jaxon, Garrett, Hayden, Aurora, Carson and Liam.<\/p>\n<p>He will forever be loved and missed.<\/p>\n<p>Celebration of life and Military Honors to be held at the Lawson Assembly of God Gymnasium on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 1 to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements in care of Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>Jim was as good a man as you could find in this world. It was an honor to be one of his friends.<br \/>\nKevin Morgan<\/p>\n<p>I grew up next door to Jimmy when we were children.\u00a0 His mother Bernice was my babysitter.\u00a0 I am so sorry for your loss.\u00a0 I have fond memories of the family.\u00a0 I do remember Jimmy was ornery and happy.<br \/>\nPam Hill Adams<\/p>\n<p>I knew Jim from my youth growing up in Excelsior. He was a good friend, very strong physically but never had a mean streak in him, and he could have been a bully, but never was. I also kept in touch with Jim in the later years and he impressed me as a man who was gentle, caring and much loved by his friends and family. A good soul. Super great guy. My deepest condolences to his family.<br \/>\nJohn Rolando<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy was a great friend.\u00a0 He and I were roommates, sharing an apartment in Excelsior Springs.\u00a0 He was fresh out of the Marines and I was just striking out on my own.\u00a0 He was my mentor.\u00a0 He taught me a lot about being a man.<br \/>\nWe had many grand adventures together, but I believe I&#8217;ll keep those to myself.<br \/>\nMy condolences to his friends and family.\u00a0 May his memory be a blessing.\u00a0 It certainly is to me.<br \/>\nJoe Calton<\/p>\n<p>Jim became my uncle after his brother married my mom and he was always so kind to me and made me feel welcome at family gatherings. He treated my like I had always just been a part of the family. He was the absolute best storyteller and had a way with words that made him the most entertaining and fun person to be around. He had a great laugh and brought a lively spirit to every gathering. He was also exceptionally talented and could fix just about anything. He will certainly be missed!
