{"id":975,"date":"2017-09-10T18:49:18","date_gmt":"2017-09-10T18:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/?p=975"},"modified":"2018-10-13T00:52:35","modified_gmt":"2018-10-13T00:52:35","slug":"lucile-grass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/index.php\/2017\/09\/10\/lucile-grass\/","title":{"rendered":"Lucile Grass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-977 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/l_grass.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"300\" \/>Lucile (Donahue) Grass, 93, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., was passed into God\u2019s hands on September 10, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>She was born in Grayson, Mo., to Washington Garfield \u201cGar\u201d and Martha Katherine Donahue on November 19, 1923.\u00a0 She had four sisters and three brothers.\u00a0 She attended and graduated from Gower High School.<\/p>\n<p>Lucile \u201cLou\u201d married Kenneth \u201cKenny\u201d Grass on November 8, 1941.\u00a0 She always said it was \u201clove at first sight.\u201d\u00a0 They married two weeks after they met.\u00a0 They were a perfect match, soulmates for life.\u00a0 They started their life journey in various cities in California and had five children (two boys, three girls).\u00a0 Lou was a homemaker and Kenny a mechanic.\u00a0 After a few years they made their way back to Missouri and continued raising their children.<\/p>\n<p>From time to time Kenny would let her tag along on his weekly fishing trips and during each season they would go berry picking and mushroom hunting together.\u00a0 She was a wonderful cook and made the best pies you ever tasted.\u00a0 Her love of her life, Kenny, passed away on January 4, 1981.\u00a0 Her children have had the privilege of having her live in each of their homes throughout the rest of her life.<\/p>\n<p>We were blessed to have her during her 93 years of life.\u00a0 She had a life well lived.\u00a0 She was of sound mind and fairly good health up until her last day.\u00a0 Her sharpness and clarity must have been attributed to her many hours of working crossword puzzles, playing scrabble and crocheting. We all have many crocheted afghans to remember her by.<\/p>\n<p>She always maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the hearts of many.\u00a0 Many lives have been changed by her constant love and nurturing.\u00a0 Her family was her life.\u00a0 Her absence will leave a huge void in all of our lives.\u00a0 We will miss her immensely.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Kenny, infant son, Gary, and daughter, Cheryl Sue.<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her children, Kent (Christina) Grass, Skiatook, Okla., Beth (Michael) Corum, Excelsior Springs, and Karen (Kurt) Johnson, Excelsior Springs; grandchildren, Lora (Michael) Worthan, Staci (Jim) Shockley, Donnie (Theresa) Carter, Heather Ohle, Jason (Suzanne) Grass, Justin (Brandi) Corum, Brett (Wendy) Corum, Lindsay (John) Rickart, and Trent (Jessica) Johnson; 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way, and five great-great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Private family service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
