{"id":9628,"date":"2021-09-18T15:17:45","date_gmt":"2021-09-18T15:17:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/?p=9628"},"modified":"2022-08-28T15:03:07","modified_gmt":"2022-08-28T15:03:07","slug":"darrick-jay-wood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/index.php\/2021\/09\/18\/darrick-jay-wood\/","title":{"rendered":"Darrick Jay Wood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-9630\" src=\"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/darrick-wood.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/darrick-wood.jpg 320w, https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/darrick-wood-206x300.jpg 206w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/>Darrick Jay Wood, 57, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away September 18, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Darrick was born June 8, 1964, to Billy Gene and Ruth Ann Shipley Wood in Kansas City, Mo.\u00a0 He was raised in Kearney, Mo., graduating from Kearney High School in 1983.\u00a0 He had also lived in Stuart, Florida for 7 years, he enjoyed the beach and learned to scuba dive.\u00a0 He worked at the family business, Interstate Auto Service for 18 years.\u00a0 Darrick was a mechanic by passion and had an \u201cI can do anything\u201d attitude and was determined to fix anything.<\/p>\n<p>He was loving and free spirited by nature and his laughter could light up the room! He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.<\/p>\n<p>Darrick leaves behind his children, Dustin Jay Wood and Colton David Wood; grandson, Ace Wood; siblings, Regina (Wood) and husband, Russell Stevens, and Ryan Wood and wife, Amber Wood; girlfriend, Trinity Hope Diaz; and his nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>Private services will be held. The family suggest memorial contributions to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kearney, Mo.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements in care of Fry-Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>I had the pleasure of working with Darrick for a year or so. He was easy to talk to and had a great sense of humor. It always hits home when you hear of a classmate\u2019s passing. Sorry for your loss.<br \/>\nSonya<\/p>\n<p>It was my pleasure and an honor to have called Darrick a friend. Even though we both moved away and hadn&#8217;t spoken in a long time I often thought of &#8220;DJ&#8221; and times we shared talking about cars or hanging out and having a beer together. He&#8217;s been on my mind all week and I found his newest fb page and sent him a friend request. I&#8217;m sorry sorry to his family and friends. I met him in 1996 and we became instant friends. Going to The Landing and playing foosball for hours. I drove him out to the country to look at this car with me way out in a pasture.
