Wilson and Elva Rutter Wilson, along with five siblings, Ruby Stuckey, Moses Franklin Wilson, Joseph Richard Wilson, Wanda Arnett, and an infant sister.\u00a0 A W.W.II veteran serving with the 42<sup>nd<\/sup> Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, which had campaigns in Europe, he proudly served our country for six years.<\/p>\n<p>In 1950 he married Helen Jane (Crenshaw) Wilson and had two daughters, Delores W. Wharton and Carla J. (Jim) Shaner; later divorcing in 1979.\u00a0 He is survived by his daughters and five grandchildren, Stephanie (Kevin) Greenwood, David (Erika) Wharton, Dr. James (Michelle) Shaner, Jarred Shaner, Rebecca (Matthew) Stites; and five great-grandchildren, Jude, Harper, Sullivan, Margot and Brooks.<\/p>\n<p>Carl resided nearly all of his adult life in Excelsior Springs, Mo., as an entrepreneur who owned a construction company building homes, started Wilson Acres, built Rainbow Swim Club, owned and operated Ozark Inn, sold real estate, etc.\u00a0 He was active in the Lutheran Church his entire life, enjoyed country western music, and often ate lunch at the Mill Inn.\u00a0 Carl will be laid to rest at the Veteran\u2019s Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo., on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at a private ceremony due to coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.esmuseum.com\" target=\"_blank\">Excelsior Springs Museum and Archives<\/a>, 101 E. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>So sorry for your loss, and thank you Carl for your service to our country and the City of Excelsior Springs!<br \/>\nHaldeen O\u2019Dell<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0 drove Carla and I to my first Chiefs game back in the 60\u2019s &#8230; We lost the game but he explained to us how the other team got all the right calls and the refs were not fair to us.<br \/>\nWe knew he was right&#8230;. btw&#8230;.
