Lanie was born September 7, 2014 with a rare heart defect and the odds stacked against her. She had a series of three open heart surgeries throughout her life to help her live with her heart difference. Lanie beat all odds and never let her heart difference stop her from anything. She was a fighter and lived life to the fullest. She was the happiest when she was at home surrounded by her favorite people.

Lanie is survived by her parents, Eric and Kelsey Steingrubey of Holt, Mo., siblings, Emeri (12), Mollie (3), and Nash (7 mo.), and her beloved kitty, Meow Meow; paternal grandparents, Ron and Janice Steingrubey of Kearney, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Kelly and Judy Pickering of Hamilton, Mo.; aunts and uncle, Colleen and Ryan Nichols, Lyndsey Baldwin and Bayley Pickering; and many other great aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Lanie was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Scott Baldwin (Hamilton, Mo).

Lanie was an amazing little girl. She was smart, funny, and very independent. She had a smile that could light up the dark and a personality that was truly magnetic. Lanie attended preschool at Radiant Life Preschool in Kearney, Mo. Her favorite things to do were color, ride her bike, play outside and anything ornery she could think of. Lanie and her younger sister Mollie were inseparable. She idolized her older sister Emeri and adored her baby brother Nash. She was a Mama’s girl and knew very well she had her Dad wrapped around her finger.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Kearney Baptist Church, 303 S. Grove, Kearney, MO. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2019, also at the church with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kearney, MO.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City.

Lanie Bug, we are so proud of you and are lucky to have had you in our lives. You are one of a kind and touched the lives of so many people in just 4-1/2 years. You will always be an inspiration to anyone that met you. The world was a happier place with you in it.
