He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy (McManigal), of the home and five children, Robert Dell Boyer (Kyra L.) of Edmond, Okla., Cindy Ann Fish (Lee) of Oak Park, Ill., Shelley Lynn Cormack (Scott) of Midwest City, Okla., Stephanie Kay Ousley (Paul) of Springfield, Mo., and Jeffrey Laurence Boyer (Paula) of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.<\/p>\n
Melvan was born December 18, 1936, in Shawnee, Okla., to John Laurence \u201cJ.L.\u201d and Lillian Elizabeth (Starkey) Boyer.\u00a0 He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1954.\u00a0 He attended Tulsa University, Bacone College and Oklahoma Baptist University.\u00a0 He retired in 2001 from American Ingredients Co. at Grandview, Mo., where he was Quality Control Manager.<\/p>\n
He was past president of Clay County Sportsman Club, past president of Kansas City Coatings Society, and was featured in the American Paint Digest.\u00a0 He was a member of the American Association of Cereal Chemists, Ducks Unlimited, Missouri Waterfowlers, the Missouri Historical Society and American Coatings Association.\u00a0 He was a member of the Quarterback Club, an Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation board member, Chairman of Fundraising for the Mineral Water Bowl, and on the Excelsior Springs Historical Museum Board.<\/p>\n
A memorial service will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Excelsior Springs Community Center, 500 Tiger Drive, Excelsior Springs, MO. No flowers please.<\/p>\n
