He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during Vietnam. He worked most of his life in construction doing drywall installation. He was a member of the Carpenters Union. Larry enjoyed reading, hunting and fishing. He was also a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Williams; step father, Jack Williams; and a brother, Fred Hammer.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; daughters, Delda Byrd and Lori and husband, Bennie Vitale; son, Zach Byrd; grandchildren, Chance Byrd, Drake Tipton, Lillie Tipton, Gracie Vitale and Paulie Vitale; and brother, Doug Hammer.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017 with service immediately following at Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Larry Dale Byrd, 69, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away April 22, 2017.
