\"\"Merna B. Mills, 89, Lawson, Mo., passed away January 6, 2019.<\/p>\n

Merna was born to Merle and Lucy Houchin on July 12, 1929 in Hoisington, Kans.<\/p>\n

She married Benne E. Mills on June 26, 1949 in Illinois. They were married 53 years, Benny passed in 2002.\u00a0 Merna was a telephone operator and cashier in Hoisington for 25 years.\u00a0 She retired in 1982.\u00a0 She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Great Bend, Kans., until moving to Lawson, Mo. in 2011.\u00a0 Then she became a member of Lawson Assembly of God Church.<\/p>\n

She loved the Lord, people, quilting, restoring antiques and gardening.<\/p>\n

Merna was a loving mother to Ben E. Mills II and her grandchildren.\u00a0 Her family and friends will miss her sweet smile and the love she shared<\/p>\n

She is survived by her son, Ben E. Mills II and wife, Myra; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Nancy A. Workman; and nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Lawson Assembly of God Church.<\/p>\n

Graveside services for Merna will be held at 11 a.m. on April 27, 2019 at Hoisington cemetery. Family and friends will gather at Friendship House, 419 E. 3rd, Hoisington, Kansas. Memorials for her headstone may be sent to Nancy Workman, 201 W. 8th Terrace, Lawson, MO 64062.<\/p>\n

I remember Merna living just south east of mom and dad in Hoisington, and she and mom worked as telephone operators together, from what I remember. Thinking of Merna and Lucy, such old, fond memories.
