Hostetler, Jr."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2146 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/daniel_hostetler.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"308\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/daniel_hostetler.jpg 250w, https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/daniel_hostetler-244x300.jpg 244w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dan peacefully transitioned to his eternal home Tuesday, April 17, 2018.\u00a0 He was born March 15, 1947 in Kansas City, Kans., to Daniel Enmer Hostetler and Ruth Jeanette (Hamm) Hostetler.<\/p>\n<p>He was raised in Prairie Village, Kans., graduating from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1965.\u00a0 Dan followed in his grandfather\u2019s footsteps, working for Proctor &amp; Gamble until health issues took over his life necessitating many surgeries over the next few years.<\/p>\n<p>Dapper Dan attended Pittsburg State University.\u00a0 His sales career started at Kansas City Barber Supply working for Redkin where he became a Sales and Marketing Manager and ended in real estate for Century 21 Smith and Associates in Lawson, Mo.\u00a0 He was blessed lifelong with amazing friends. \u00a0He loved fishing, college basketball (he lived for the final four) gab (he never met a stranger), pets, and keeping in touch with everyone he met, creating a huge network of people he was honored to call friends.<\/p>\n<p>In 1993 he met Kathy Little Ackerman through a personal ad in the Kansas City Star. They dated three years and married in 1996. She is the love of his life and best friends with his sisters.\u00a0 Her loving, tender care through the years shines; she was holding him when the Lord called him home.<\/p>\n<p>Dan was a member of United Christian &amp; Presbyterian Church in Lawson. He was a 32 degree Mason, belonging to Bee Hive Lodge 393, Wyandotte Lodge #3, Ararat Shrine, Scottish Rite and Excelsior Chapter 168 Order of Eastern Star.<\/p>\n<p>Danny Boy is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Kathy; his sisters, Mary Ann Garling, Evansville, Ind., and Carla (Terry) Talarico, Prairie Village, Kans.; and brother-in-law, John Little (Lorrie), Palm Harbor, Fla. He has two nephews, five nieces, five grandnephews, five grandnieces and one great grand nephew, as well as step nieces and their children.<\/p>\n<p>The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Liberty Hospice for their extraordinary care.\u00a0 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Christian &amp; Presbyterian Church.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, 3:30 p.m. Masonic service, followed by memorial service at Lawson United Christian &amp; Presbyterian Church.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements are in care of Bross &amp; Spidle Lawson Chapel, Lawson.<\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #efdbd9; padding: 1em;\">\n<h5>Our Sincere Condolences<\/h5>\n<p>I met Danny in 1965 at Pittsburg.\u00a0 He was from Prairie Village and I was from Pennsylvania.\u00a0 Somehow, some way, we hit it off and over the next few years became the very best of friends.\u00a0 Danny (as I have always and only known him) was a joyful and wonderfully erratic friend.\u00a0 We would hang out at his parents home for hours, just talking guy things.\u00a0 His Mom and Dad were incredibly patient with the two of us.\u00a0 My parents thought of Danny as another of their children.. They actually had a special bed set up just for Danny.\u00a0 Mom called it &#8216;Danny&#8217;s bed&#8217; where he was always welcome.\u00a0 I have ever grateful memories of those days that I will always cherish.\u00a0 I&#8217;m equally sorry that over time Danny and I didn&#8217;t find a way to get together at least one more time.<br \/>\nHis friend, Jim Adams<\/p>\n<p>Sorry to hear of Dan&#8217;s passing.\u00a0 I first met Dan forty years ago when he called on the Barber Shop in Butler. I have Good Memories of when he stayed with me. We had good times.
