Mabel JoAnn DeVoss Luttrell, 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on October 13, 2023. She was born June 10, 1939 in Cody, Wyoming, to Daniel Wayne and Edna Mae Cole DeVoss.<\/p>\nMabel JoAnn DeVoss Luttrell, 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on October 13, 2023. Mabel graduated from Grand Island, Nebraska High School in the Class of 1957. She went on to St. Mary’s Nursing School and Providence Hospital. She worked in many local community hospitals and schools.<\/p>\n
Mabel married the love of her life, Jerry H. Luttrell Senior on November 24, 1960, at Visitation Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO. He serenaded her often, cooked countless meals, and cared for her at home, until the very end, a true companion.<\/p>\n
She always offered a helping healing hand, caring for the young and old alike for more than 30 years. As a wonderful nurse, she took pride in blessing others with her compassionate care and patience. Often, you would find Mabel out in the yard with her grandkids, whom she adored. Her heart\u2019s priorities, catching butterflies, finding 4-leaf clovers, blowing bubbles, and picking flowers. Dusting and house work were optional, and certainly not as important as a walk in the yard finding leaves. Mom never met a stranger, she always had a warm cup of coffee, something to eat and genuine kindness.<\/p>\n
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Daniel.<\/p>\n
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Luttrell Senior; brother, Patrick DeVoss (Sylena DeVoss); nephew, Cole DeVoss; and niece, Hannah Turner; her children, Tammy Luttrell (Raymond Rosenberry), Sandy Kessler (Paul Kessler), and Jerry Luttrell Junior (Melissa Luttrell); her grandchildren, Andrea, Eric, Michaela, Kathryn, Shelby, Ethan, Samantha, and Carly; great-grandchildren, Kallie, Liam, and Clara. We all love you so very much and \u201cWe\u2019ll see ya!\u201d<\/p>\n
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. October 16, 2023, with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Annunciation, 701 North Jefferson, Kearney, MO 64060. Service concludes with a graveside burial at Antioch Cemetery in Holt, Missouri.<\/p>\n

\nI was so saddened to hear of Mabel’s passing, and so thankful to have had the opportunity to talk with you before her death.
\nThere were six classmates gathered for our annual luncheon. We shared some great memories of our times together and offered a special prayer for the gift of Mabel in our lives.
\nI know this loss has left a big void in your life but I am profoundly grateful that she was blessed by your loving and steadfast presence at her side until her peaceful transition into a new life. I have no doubt that bands of angels were there to greet her and welcome her into paradise and that she will maintain a loving presence in your life and the lives of all her family until you meet again.
