{"id":1259,"date":"2017-11-08T18:14:15","date_gmt":"2017-11-08T18:14:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/?p=1259"},"modified":"2018-10-13T00:42:10","modified_gmt":"2018-10-13T00:42:10","slug":"edward-paul-wooten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/index.php\/2017\/11\/08\/edward-paul-wooten\/","title":{"rendered":"Edward Paul Wooten"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1261 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/e_wooten.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/e_wooten.jpg 297w, https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/e_wooten-295x300.jpg 295w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 297px) 100vw, 297px\" \/>Edward Paul Wooten went to see His Savior peacefully at Liberty Hospital on November 8, 2017 in Liberty, MO, one week short of his 83rd birthday.\u00a0 Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maudenia, of Liberty, MO; daughter Elaine (and her family) of Liberty, MO; daughter Denise (and her family) of Argyle, Texas; daughter Cindy (and her family) of Excelsior Springs, MO; and son Vance (and his family) of Kansas City, MO. Ed is additionally survived by his 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his sisters Mary and Linda of North Carolina, and brothers Roger of Colorado and Kenny of Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>Ed was born on Nov 19, 1934 in Kansas City, MO, to Isom and Emma Wooten. He graduated from William Jewell College with a degree in Greek\/Sociology. He also attended Hannibal-LaGrange College, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ed and Denia met in St. Louis, MO, and married in 1957. Ed had a varied and interesting work career, which continued right up until the week before he died. His primary professions were as an ordained Southern Baptist Minister and as a Probation\/Parole Officer for various jurisdictions, (including the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary and Jackson County, MO).\u00a0 After his \u201cretirement\u201d from his professional careers, Ed could not be idle and reinvented himself as a Snow Plow Operator, Tomato Farmer, Car Rental Shuttle Bus Driver, and his personal favorite: Dirt Delivery Man (\u201cDirt Men Don\u2019t Lie!\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Ed Wooten never knew a stranger, interacting with a myriad of people as he went about his life, usually connecting through humor.\u00a0 He was endlessly interested in the lives of others, was at his best when others needed him, and showed generosity to a fault.\u00a0 Ed was also accomplished at singing, with his beautiful tenor voice. In 1982, he recorded a gospel album entitled \u201cEd Wooten Sings.\u201d\u00a0 Ed was passionate about The Herriman Jewell Classical Music Concert Series, as well as the Gaither Vocal Band. He also enjoyed the beauty of nature, traveled extensively across the United States, and collected antique tea cups after inheriting several from his aunt.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Pisgah Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs, MO with a graveside service to follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Pastor Doug Richey will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ed\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude\u2019s Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
