{"id":1168,"date":"2017-11-04T21:12:41","date_gmt":"2017-11-04T21:12:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/?p=1168"},"modified":"2018-10-13T00:43:47","modified_gmt":"2018-10-13T00:43:47","slug":"james-jim-penney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/index.php\/2017\/11\/04\/james-jim-penney\/","title":{"rendered":"James Cash Penney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1172 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/j_penney-f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/j_penney-f.jpg 300w, https:\/\/staging.brossspidlemonuments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/j_penney-f-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>James Cash Penney was born on March 22, 1940 in Washington, Mo., to Laura and Eli Robert &#8220;Bob&#8221; Penney.\u00a0 He moved several times during his childhood due to his father\u2019s responsibility to the JC Penney Co.\u00a0 He graduated in 1958 from St. Agnes High School in Mission Hills, Kans.\u00a0 He also attended the University of Kansas and Park University.\u00a0 He served in the Army National Guard for two years.<\/p>\n<p>His love for racing began in 1950 and continued to his final day.\u00a0 One of the highlights of his racing career includes a championship at Ascot Motor Speedway in Gardenia, Calif., in 1965.\u00a0 He did everything from driving, to mechanical work, to being a car owner.\u00a0 Penney racing actually started in 1958 and is carried on today by his son and it continues to live up to the tradition. He was inducted into two racing Hall of Fames: Central Auto Racing Boosters and California Jalopy Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>He owned and operated Penney Auto Sales in Raytown, Mo., for 25 years.\u00a0 It was there that he met his future wife, Claudine, in 1983.\u00a0 They were together for 34 years.\u00a0 Together they have two sons, Tim Archuletta of Liberty, Mo., and Bobby Penney of Smithville, Mo.; daughter in law, Kayla Archuletta; Bobby\u2019s girlfriend, Logan Hudlemeyer; and four grandchildren, Kevin, Jimmy, Michael and Kelly.\u00a0 He is also survived by his two favorite puppies, Rowdy and Champ.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the ASPCA in honor of Jim and his love for animals.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017 with service immediately following at Bross &amp; Spidle Funeral Home, Lawson Chapel.
