Mary June Hughes

Mary June Hughes, 84, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023.

June was born on May 27, 1939, to Ray and Edith Bosley in Lawson, Missouri. June graduated from Lawson High School, class of 1957. June married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Ronald Wayne Teegarden on September 19, 1958. They were married until Wayne passed in February 1990. June married Charles Hughes in October 1994. They were married until Charles passed in January 2019.

Together, June and Wayne built an amazing life. Their love story was never-ending. From this love came son, Bret Wayne Teegarden, and daughter, Gina Rae Smith, both of Excelsior Springs.

June worked in the office at the TWA overhaul base for 30 years. The perks of the job allowed her to travel to many places.

June was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Wayne Teegarden and Charles Hughes; brothers, Dean Bosley and Dale Bosley; and sister, Joy Webb.

She is survived by her son, Bret Teegarden (Candy); daughter, Gina Smith (Len); grandchildren, Grant Kessler (Kindy), Austin Teegarden (Alannah), and Dailee Teegarden (Trevor); five great grandchildren, Lucas Kessler, Kaidence Conrick, Kynli Kessler, Bodhi Kessler, and Adalee Teegarden; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with service to follow at United Christian and Presbyterian Church in Lawson, Missouri. The burial will be at Lawson Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Christian and Presbyterian Church in Lawson, Missouri.

Bret and Gina – I’m so sad to learn of June’s passing…I haven’t seen her for several years but fondly remember her perky/sparky self.
One thing comes back – she had a nickname for me —COUZZ (translation, cousin).

I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. She was a wonderful woman. I remember her beautiful smile, perfect hair, and what a kind person she was. She was always open to hosting the Class of ‘78 Homecoming Float “building”. Your home was the perfect location and she made us all feel welcome!
