Daniel Shaw

On June 22, 2023 the Lord called another angel home, Dan Shaw. Dan was born January 22, 1942 at the Maryville hospital in Maryville, Mo.

Dan graduated from Westboro High School in 1960. On August 26, 1959 he married the love of his life Millie Stearns. They had a wonderful life and raised two children.

Dan worked 35 years for Kansas City Power and Light before retiring in 2001. After retiring, he loved traveling with Millie in their fifth wheel. Those adventures took them to Branson every year to relax, visit and enjoy time with family and friends.

He was known to be a prankster and you never knew when or if you were going to be his next victim. He was an avid sports fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Matney (Richard); granddaughter, Jesse; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Millie; his son, Troy; his parents, Troy and Elna Shaw; and sister, Donna Logan.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, Mo.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Kearney First Baptist Church in Kearney, Mo. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Westboro, Mo. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Kearney First Baptist Church or your favorite animal shelter.

Our dear Vicki and Richard, thank you for letting us be a part of your family!! Your dad and Ron were truly like brothers! Our children and grandchildren will always miss their Uncle Dan and will share all the loving memories he gave!!!
The loss of a dad is never easy, but when he told us, he had to go see his heavenly father! We knew we had to let him go to be with all his loved ones, especially his wife, Millie!  The life he lived, the hearts he touched, the legacy he left behind in you will keep him alive in our hearts forever and that’s the Loving Spiritual memories we all shared together…… Memory Eternal

Dan was so devoted to his wonderful wife Millie. When Millie was in our home we loved getting to know him while he spent his days by her side. He was one of the most devoted loving husbands I have ever met. Peace be with him as he rejoins his beloved wife. The staff at Valley Manor will always remember them both fondly.

Danny and I were in the same class, 1960, in Westboro, Missouri.
I always told Danny he was Mrs. Marquart’s favorite student!
Danny stayed in touch, giving me Westboro news and Alumni banquet updates.
Danny loved his family. He spoke of them so many times in our phone calls.
He was a smart, kind and helpful person. ….the world was better with him in it.

I just learned of Dan’s passing. Sorry for your loss Vicki. I worked with Dan many years. Dan shared his camper with me when we K.C.P.L. went on strike. Also enjoyed many good times at his and Millie’s home and at his camp site in Branson. Will see you later Dan and Millie.
